Diwali is nearly here, and we’re throwing a party for it.
On Friday 6th November 2026, Chennai Spice in Edmonton, North London, is hosting a Diwali Special Evening. There will be an Indian buffet, a fashion show, live music and a DJ with a dance floor. Come with your family and friends, wear something lovely and stay late.
Here’s everything you need to know before you book.
When and where is the Diwali party in london?
It’s on Friday 6th November 2026, from 7:30 PM until late.
You’ll find us at 213–217 Hertford Road, London N9 7ER. That’s in Edmonton, North London.
Diwali falls in early November this year, so the party lands right in Diwali week. It’s a Friday too, which means you can dress up, eat well and not worry about work the next morning.
What’s happening on the night?
Four things: a buffet, a fashion show, live music and a DJ.
- Indian buffet: Plenty of food to share and go back for.
- Fashion show: A runway full of Indian outfits and colour.
- Live music: Songs to set the mood while you eat.
- DJ and dance floor: When the music gets louder, the dance floor opens up.
The restaurant will be decorated with lights and lamps, so the place will feel like Diwali the moment you walk in. It’s a good night for a family outing, a catch-up with friends or a team get-together.
What is Diwali, and why do people celebrate it?
Diwali is the festival of lights. It stands for light beating darkness and good beating evil.
Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all celebrate it in their own ways. The festival runs for five days. People clean their homes, light small clay lamps called diyas, make rangoli patterns at the door and share sweets with neighbours and family.
In South India, the festival is called Deepavali. In Tamil Nadu, families often wake up early for an oil bath, put on new clothes and cook special snacks at home. Food and family are at the heart of it, and that’s the feeling we want to bring to the restaurant on 6th November.
What should I wear to the party?
Wear your best Indian outfit. Sarees, lehengas and kurtas are all welcome, and every colour of India is invited.
Gold, red, orange and deep green look great at Diwali. Shiny fabrics and embroidery look even better in warm restaurant lighting. Add some jewellery and bangles if you like.
If you don’t own Indian clothes, don’t worry. A smart outfit with a bright scarf or jacket works fine. Nobody will turn you away.
What food can I expect?
The night centres on an Indian buffet. We’ll share the exact buffet dishes when you book, so ask our team when you call.
In the meantime, our regular menu gives you a good idea of what we cook. We make South Indian and Sri Lankan food, with lots of tandoor grills, dosas, curries and biryani. These are some favourites, with prices from our menu page.
